An ASP-based Solution to the Chemotherapy Treatment Scheduling problem

Abstract The problem of scheduling chemotherapy treatments in oncology clinics is a complex problem, given that the solution has to satisfy (as much as possible) several requirements such cyclic nature treatment plans, maintaining constant number patients, and availability resources, for example, time, nurses, drugs. At same realizing satisfying schedule upmost importance obtaining best health outcomes. In this paper we first consider specific instance which employed San Martino Hospital Genova, Italy, present based on Answer Set Programming (ASP). Then, enrich related ASP encoding considering further features often other hospitals, desirable also S. Martino, and/or considered papers. Results an experimental analysis, conducted real data provided by Hospital, show effective solving methodology important problem.
